Chapter 1: Collecting Data. Sampling methods and design of experiments.

This chapter, together with Chapter 0, introduces the concepts of population and sample and some other associated concepts. It describes the most common sampling methods and their limitations. It also introduces the distinction between an observational study and an experiment and discusses their advantages and disadvantages and the possible conclusions we can get from them in regard to causation.
